Get Trusted Home Remedies For Tan Removal
The onset of summer brings fun and frolic with swimming and beach holidays, but don’t forget the sun damage that comes in its wake. Just a few minutes in the scorching heat and the skin produces a brown colored pigment called melanin that can give a dark tanned look to the skin. Applying sunscreen before stepping out in the sun is essential to avoid a tan. However, prolonged exposure to the sun leaves the sunscreen ineffective and the excessive sweating washes it away.
Though it is not easy to bring the skin back to its natural tone after stubborn tanning, there are some trusted home remedies that work wonders:
1. Tan Removal Masks: Mix cucumber and ripe papaya pulp with 1 tsp curd, 1 tsp honey, 4 tsp oatmeal and 1 tsp lemon juice. Apply on the face and neck twice a week and then wash off after half an hour. A pack made from calamine powder and sugarcane juice is a great remedy to detan your skin.
2. Sugar Scrub: A good home remedy for sun tan is to mix equal quantities of sugar granules and lemon juice. Apply this mixture all over the exposed skin and scrub for 15 minutes. Keep for another 15 minutes. This will provide a natural bleached effect.
3. Tomato Pulp: Mash the pulp of tomatoes and apply it on the skin. Let it work for 30 minutes and then wash it off with fresh water.
4. Raw Potato Juice: Potato juice is an effective home remedy to rid of tan. Apply a mixture of 1 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of potato juice and leave it on for 15 minutes. Repeat this process daily till you get rid of the tan.
5. Yoghurt and Lemon: Mix yoghurt with lemon juice and apply it on your skin daily before bath. This is one of the best remedy for reducing sun tan.
6. Sandalwood Powder: A blend of almond and sandalwood paste also helps in detanning. Apply this paste on your skin and leave it for half an hour before washing off with cold water. Sandalwood is known to soothe and lighten the skin.
7. Turmeric Powder: Make a thick paste of turmeric powder with yoghurt and honey. Apply this paste on your skin for about 15-20 minutes and rinse it off in cold water.
8. Aloe Vera Gel: This is a good treatment for sun tanned skin. You can mix lemon juice to mashed leaves of aloe vera plant and apply the puree to the affected areas. Besides removing the tan it also helps cleanse, clear, and nourish the skin.
